In the blink of an eye, 18 months have flown by!

Skylar is 18 months old today...only 6 more months and she will be two. It seems like only yesterday I brought my sweet bundle home and now she is jumping on my bed and singing sweet songs. Life just doesn't get any better. We took Skylar in for her 18 month check up and she was perfect! She passed her autism screening with flying colors and received her last vaccine. No more shots (other than flu) until she is four! YEAH!!!!! I can't tell you how much I dislike shots...one of the downfalls of parenthood. Dr. Mcray was actually quite impressed with the little stinker; Skylar gave her best Buckwheat impression, "O'Tay", and had Dr. Mcray cracking up. We were taking her sock of as the nurse came to take her vitals and Skylar lifted her foot and said "P, Tink". Needless to say, she was the bell of the ball once again.

As promised, we got adorable pictures this weekend at cousin Beau's party. Skylar enjoyed the free roam of the back yard, swinging, and getting on her first slide. She met new friends and had a lot of fun. She was really good on the car ride too. We expected her to nap in the car on the way there, but she was too busy watching "Yo Gabba Gabba" on the DVD player. She only got a twenty minute nap that day and she was still wonderful, very happy. We can't wait to do it again. This weekend is cousin Sean's birthday party, he is turning four. I am sure they will have a lot of fun and there will be more great pictures to come.

Mother's Day was wonderful; Phil was awesome! I didn't have to do anything but play with Skylar. They got me a new Vera Bradley bag and Sky got me a SuperMom Sticker that I wore all day long. We had dinner with Phil's mom, sister, and grandma. He cooked a wonderful meal for all of us. Skylar loved playing on her Ama's screened in porch. It was a beautiful day and she loves being outside...especially if bubbles and flowers are involved.

Mother's day weekend was also Aunt Melissa's baby shower where Skylar showed Aunt Lissa what it will be like to have a toddler, LOL! Her Aunt Heather bought her a pink grocery cart that she pushed around the whole day. Afterwards, she got to play with cousin Izaiah for a little while and had a blast, but certainly didn't want to be held down.

It amazes me how much she is learning so quickly. Her words and syllables are becoming more defined and making more sense. She finally gave her grandma a name, "Ama", and learned to say Pop Pop this week. She is not only continuing to watch her favorite show "Yo Gabba Gabba", but is now requesting which episode she would like to watch. She is also starting to perform the dancey dances on the show. She knows the Alligator Chomp, Jumpy Jump Jump, and tonight she started doing the Jumping Jellyfish. We also noticed tonight the growth spirt we somehow missed. She can now see over the baby gate and no longer has to look around it.

Next weekend we are headed to cousin Beau's birthday party, which I am sure will yield great pictures. It is a 2 1/2 hour trip to and from, but we are equiped and plan to stop for Skylar's first IHOP breakfast. She is in Aunt Janet and Uncle Chris's wedding in June as their flower girl. The dress is adorable and I am looking for something adorable to put in her hair as well. Suggestions?

Happy Spring

Spring is here and the warm weather is finally rolling in. Skylar is a true toddle...bumps, bruises, temper tantrums and all...Oh, the tantrums:) She is Mommy's little helper; she loves to help me sweep the kitchen as she walks through the dirt on the floor and load the dishwasher while trying not to fall off the door.

She is now 17 months old, soon to be 18 months (1 1/2 years). I ask myself everyday where the time has gone. I treasure every moment because before I know it she will be a teenager. I only hope that we can be best friends as well as mother and daughter. I love the show Gilmore Girls and love the relationship they have. I would love that connection with my daugher, maybe not as quirky, lol.
