Summer's End

We had a Christmas in July day where Aunt Krista, cousin Sean and Hannah came over. We made ginger bread men and ornaments.

Cousin Lilly turned 7 in July and we celebrated with her at a princess/pool party.

Cousin Colt also had a birthday in July. He turned 1 July 17 and joined the toddler club. We spent the day in Roundhill celebrating with him and Melissa and Kurt.

Sky also had her very first movie theater experience this summer. We took her to see the Pooh Movie on opening day. She was a bit disappointed that the characters weren't actually there, but she got over it and enjoyed the movie.

Skylar completed her very first summer reading program at the library and earned a ticket to the library carnival, which she enjoyed very much.

We went to Colonial Beach and enjoyed the river a couple of times. I am not crazy about the dirty river, and with good reason. The first time we went I let her get in and splash aimlessly...two days later she had strep throat and her first ear infection. Now of course it could be a coincidence, but the second time we went it was only hands and feet in the water, lol.

When she got sick, I got sick, then daddy got sick and a month later we are all still recovering. Skylar recovered first, Daddy is still dealing with some sinus stuff, and my infection turned into bronchitis. A case that wouldn't quit. I had two rounds of antibiotics, and am now on two steriods to try and clear it up. We are recovering and I made the best of my last week with my girl. We went to Kings Dominion and had a great day Sunday, Monday we did home pedicures and girly stuff, and today we met Daddy for lunch and went to the new Walmart to get something "special" since Mommy was going back to work. While there we experienced a 5.8 earthquake, which is unheard of around here. Sky was a little scared, but I stayed as calm as possible. I didn't really know what was going on at first, my motherly instict just took control. I very calmly grabbed Sky out of the cart and stepped into an empty aisle way while watching the building shake and feeling it benieth my feet. It was definitely something I won't forget, but everyone is well. There was no damage to the house and everyone was safe, so we just went on about our day. I am certainly going to miss spending the lazy mornings and playful days with my girl; it has been a very fun summer.
