Love of my life

Phil and I were talking the other day, about how we were once the center of each other's world and it's amazing how Skylar has quickly changed that role for us. Now she is the center of our world. Every thing we do is for her, every decision we make...we think of her. Wow, we are real full grown adults now...parents. It is so wonderful how she has just changed our world and every day makes it so much better. I was having a tough day Friday, Spring rolls around and the students get anxious...behavior is amped...my job gets harder and I work over time. Phil has been working over time this week and I was just plain tired. I walked in from work and Skylar got the biggest grin on her face and yelled "Mommy's home", ran to me and wrapped her arms around my neck. That wiped it all away. Every day there is something new, every day she brings more joy to our lives, and every day we watch her grow into a beautiful little girl. Skylar is talking more than ever now. I feel like I say that often in these updates. She is speaking like such a little girl, full on sentences. Last night she walked up to me while I was eating dinner (she had already eaten) and as plain as you would hear an adult say she said "Can I have a bite?" I said "Sure you can have a bite, do you want corn or chicken?". She said "MMM, chicken!" You can seriously have a full conversation with her and she totally understands. She has come a long way since the baby talk and jibberish that I worked so hard to decode. Some of her new catch phrases are "It's so messy" because she hates to be messy these days, "I'm alright" because we often ask if she is okay due to falls or sensitivity...she is very sensitive sometimes. The poor child can't even watch America's Funniest Home Videos without getting upset because of the people falling and hurting themselves, which brings me to another catch phrase "Oh no, what happened?!". Oh and I can't forget how she says "Mommy, I have an idea" although I never hear the idea, haha. My favorites are "I love you Mommy" and "I love you Daddy", and the added bonus is when she throws her arms around me and squeezes. Tonight while putting her to bed she said "Give me Love'n Mommy". Oh, I just want to squeeze her! She loves to nuzzle nozes and give kisses and squeezes. I love to get them and so does Daddy. Skylar recently got her first library card and we have been taking her often. She loves to go to the library. We are hoping to get her to Wee Story Time they offer on Mondays; we really think she would enjoy it. This week the library is having a princess week, so they will be reading princess stories and doing princess crafts. We are hoping to coax Grandma into taking her and getting some pictures for us. Skylar reads...and reads...and reads and then we read to her. Me being an English teacher and knowing the importances of reading, well I love it. It makes me proud. She loves to read the stories and make up her own. She has her old favorite "Brown Bear Brown Bear" pretty much memorized. It is the most darling thing to see her read it to her babies. It seems her new favorite is "Mr. Brown Can Moo" by Dr. Suess. She and Daddy read and make all of the noises together. Skylar calls it "How bout Cow".

We took our last trip to Bryce with the family for this ski season. We don't ski, but we arrived in time to see Cousin Troy land in the pond. It was their end of season festival and a lot of the skiers participate in the pond skimming. They build a man made pond and the skiers try to jump over...Troy didn't quite make it. Scared the crap out of us too when he couldn't breath through his wet mask, but all is well and he dried off and got right back on his skis. Skylar really enjoyed spending time with the family and playing in the snow again. While we were there she traded me in for Grammy. She actually told me to go, she wanted Grammy to lay with her...both nights! Who can blame her? I traded my mom in too. lol. We are already starting to look into things to do this summer. We aren't really planning to go on vacation, but we are planning to get passes to Kings Dominion again this year. We would like to take her to the zoo as well. The Baltimore Aquarium sounds nice, and we would love to make our way back to the Natural Bridge...all close to home. Of course we won't be able to do them all, but I am sure we will decide how to make the summer memorable again this year.
