Catch Up Time

Let's see how I can catch you all up on what has been going on the last month and a half. Well, since I last blogged we have moved to Colonial Beach...not completely. We are still working on getting some things out of the old house. Skylar is really enjoying living with Grandma and we have most of the house pretty organized. I am really looking forward to our Thanksgiving break because we have been working so hard. Before we moved we had family pictures done at the beautiful lake. We had a friend, Casey Flores, who is trying to start his own photography business do them for us. Casey was amazing and we certainly presented a challenge. Not only were we his first toddler photo shoot, but we threw his first canine in there too. He was amazing! The pictures were beautiful, affordable, and he was wonderful with Skylar. Anything he told her he would do he followed through. He even cut his arm open rolling down a hill to make her laugh. Here are a few of them, but I have the whole album on my facebook page.

Last week we celebrated baby girl's 3rd birthday. She requested a Wizard of Oz party and it went off without a hitch. All of the kids seemed to enjoy their walk down the yellow brick road to the Emerald city with Dorthy (Skylar) and Toto. I think it was the best birthday party we have thrown yet. We painted a moving box that Skylar got attached to and a friend at work made the yellow brick road (Thanks Mr. Sherm!) Sky has yet to part with any of her decorations and she made out like a bandit! I really have no idea where all of her birthday presents are going to go, much less Christmas presents. Maybe Santa will drop some super organization tools down the chimney this year.

Today we took Skylar to her 3rd year appointment. It was definitely a milestone in being her first big girl appointment. It was the first time they didn't lay her down to measure her. She is 3 foot and one inch and weighs 29 lbs. The nurse was quite surprised that she wanted to take her temperature in her mouth and not under her arm, she hates it under the arm and has been taking temps under the tounge for about a year now. She passed all of their developmental questions with flying colors and held great conversation with the doctor. She took her first vision test and they even put her in a little gown, which was quite darling. Too bad mommy and daddy both forgot their phones so there was no camera in sight. She wasn't pleased with her flu shot though..."Mommy that medecine hurts". Next year ought to be wonderful giving a 4 year old three shots, not looking forward to that one.

Skylar really is developing into such a big girl. She is going to daycare/preschool two mornings and two full days. Her coloring has improved so much, even though she gives Ms. Cami a hard time to do it sometimes. She comes home with cutest songs, retells the story she learned that day, has learned how colors mix to make other colors, is very confident in all of her shapes, and is even recognizing more numbers. She is also learning her alphabet one letter at a time and can tell you the sounds. She is doing great with puzzles, can pull her own pants and panties up and down, is drinking out of a big girl cup with no straw and no sippy (except at night when she drinks her milk), and has not had an accident during the day or at night for a month. She is very much into imagination play right now: doll houses, figurines, babies, dress up, and absolutely loves disney princesses...yes still. That is something I don't think will wear off anytime soon. She even made Phil pretend to be Santa last night, hopped in his lap and told him she wanted a new Tangled Rapunzel dress for Christmas...Santa was listening too, lol.
Well, I think that about does it for the catch up. Now that things are starting to settle down I hope to get back to updating more frequently. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and spends it with the ones you love. We are headed to Pop's (Winky-Phil's dad) for dinner. Then I am going to get some sleep and head out with the besties for some crazy fun Black Friday shopping. Then Saturday we are going to open the season with our annual family visit to Christmastown at Bush Gardens. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
